Sunset – my favourite colour

sunset johannes cien

I love admiring the beauty of the sunset and if there is a man playing the guitar, it couldn’t be any better ;)

Sunset is as well a perfect moment to think about some important questions about our life, like identifying our life purpose. It is a struggle almost every adult goes through and finding the answer isn’t an easy road, but it may be one of the most meaningful discoveries you’ll ever make in your lifetime.

There is something that you already know – everything sucks, some of the time. So probably the most important  question you should ask yourself is:

Everything includes some sort of cost. Nothing is pleasurable all of the time. A girl who loves fashion and wants to have her own second hand store or a shop with clothes, needs to do a lot of unpleasant tasks to be successful. Or there is a man who likes to repair cars, but if he has his own car repair shop, then he would need to have control over the all the financial reports, or paper work and so on and he probably wouldn’t love that. But it’s a part of their dreams. They have to do this  to have what they want.

You also need also to remember – before you are able to be good at something and do something important, you must first suck at something and have no clue what you’re doing. That’s pretty obvious.  And most people try to avoid embarrassing themselves, because it doesn’t feel good.

Amazing how things are, by their very nature, crazy and unconventional. That’s why, to achieve them, we must go against the herd mentality. And to do that is scary.

Feeling foolish and even afraid is part of the deal. The more something scares you, the more meaningful it is. Fear is a big “tell” that you are on your path with a purpose.

When I was a child, I used to draw and write just for fun. I used to sit in my room for hours by myself, drawing away, and writing small stories, not because I wanted anyone to see it, not because I wanted to impress anybody but, just because I loved it. But then I stopped. And I don’t know why.

We all way to often lose touch with what we enjoyed when we were kids. We’re taught that the only reason to do something is if we’re somehow rewarded for it.

But my soul didn’t forget what I love. She wants it again and I can’t live without it anymore.

Now if the child inside me had asked today ‘Why don’t you create anymore?’ and I replied, ‘Because I’m not good at it and nobody would like it’ or ‘I can’t make money doing that’ then that child inside me would be very sad and I would have been completely wrong.

We’ve all had that experience where we get so absorbed in something that minutes turn into hours and hours turn into ‘Omg, I forgot to eat something’

Whatever it is, don’t just look at the activities that keep you up all night like scrolling internet sites without any purpose but look at the reasons behind those activities that enthral you.

And one last thought – Your couch is comfortable but nothing new happens there. And to find your passion, you must get off your couch and act, and take the time to think beyond yourself, to think greater than yourselfDSC_0162What most people don’t understand is that passion is the result of actions, not the cause of it. Our couch is comfortable, but nothing new happens there.

Discovering what you’re passionate about in life and what matters to you is a trial-and-error process. None of us know exactly how we feel about an activity until we actually do the activity.

Now go write down some Ideas you have long had in your mind and just go and try it. Maybe this is it!

I would love to hear your thoughts. Comment below!

  1. Magdalena,
First of all thanks for coming back in the blogspeher after long break with this very inspirational post……….
There are many points in your post, which needs proper discussion,
“Sunset is as well a perfect moment to think about some important questions about our life. For example – identifying our life purpose”.
Here, I am somewhat disagree with you, because, I am early morning person, it sun rise which gives me more inspiration and it is most quiet time of day when your body is completely fresh, your brain is super charged-up and your mind is very much cool, calm and composed.
I don’t know much about your sleeping time but just for experiment try it and wake-up early in the morning at around 5-5-30 and simply go out in garden or any place surrounded with natural beauty and you will realize your creativity immediately expand.
Everything includes some sort of cost. Nothing is pleasurable all of the time.
Here, I am completely agree with you there is no pain no gain, nothing comes in life free
Point-3 Amazing things are, by their very nature, crazy and unconventional. That’s why, to achieve them, we must go against the herd mentality. And to do that is scary.f cost.
Though it is not firm rule but most of the time it applies.
Completely agree with you on this…..
And last one – Our couch is comfortable but nothing new happens there. And to find your passion, you must get off your couch and act, and take the time to think beyond yourself, to think greater than yourself, and parad.

  2. Great post…I read once that enlightenment can only be reached via a rocky path. It’s true. Everything we truly want in life requires effort…even struggle. I love that “get off the couch” comment. I also read that “people give up on their dreams far too soon”. Again true. The hard yards involved in reaching your goal can be long indeed and the “herd” will warn you to turn back and stay safe. But if you keep going you’ll meet a far braver “herd” made up of individuals who never gave up on their dreams and are busy planning their next challenge.

  3. I watch sunset to relax and not think…but so much contemplation…one advise… do something refreashing every now and then, take a break, don’t think, you can reflect and then you will know what you want to do in life. Also keep it simple, don’t think long term so much into future, just know if you do the right things tommorow will settle by itself, so half your worry will be gone. In the present, get into that frame of mind that your able to contemplate and then decide, either take a leap of faith and do something you think and know is your calling… let us not take life seriously and let us play and think that we are grown up kids instead of adults, then there will be more enthusiasm and vigor in life.

    1. Dear Maria, thanks for your post, i like it very much! I have to say that sometimes everybody think what is the reason of our being on this earth and what should wr do with our life. Do you really think it’s wrong? Trust me i can relax very good but i like as well to contemplate, maybe too much you are right :) do you keep it always simple?

      1. No I think too much and act very less… I have heard these things from self help books and inspirational talks, I like to be calm and empty and nobody when I am like with nature watching sunsets(:

  5. I really liked your blog.
I guess in some ways ,I am like you. But I used to lobe sunrises and sunsets. My favorite sunset is ehat I call a cotton candy sunset, pink and blue mixes. :)
I get in better artistic moods when I am outside for awhile. And no one is home but me. Because if they want something or gripe, it blows all my creativity away….so much for that day!
I enjoy reading different people’s thoughts on different things in life. It does help me think better and differently at things. Keep writing!
